Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Jan 19
The 2017 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru matures in 25% whole bunches and matured in 80% new oak. It has a very intense bouquet with blackberry, briary and crushed stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a little oak to be subsumed on the entry (normal for this Grand Cru) with a broody and dense, quite muscular finish that will require several years to soften. Maybe the Clos de Vougeot and Bonnes-Mares demonstrate more personality at the moment? One for the long-haul.
